ABOUT METGIS
Global precision weather forecasts
Welcome to MetGIS, the experts in high quality meteorological services. As a renowned spin-off of the University of Vienna, we are proud to provide accurate and reliable weather forecasts and analysis. Our powerful, internationally recognized meteorological forecasting system updates highly accurate weather forecasts several times a day, worldwide, in impressive graphical displays.
We calculate a wide range of parameters, including standard variables such as temperature, rain, snowfall and wind, as well as industry-specific parameters such as wet bulb temperature, global radiation and evapotranspiration. Through an innovative combination of accurate weather models and terrain data, we produce highly accurate forecasts with an impressive resolution of up to 30 meters.
One of the main goals of MetGIS is to enable our customers to make better decisions based on high quality weather data.
We help optimize the use of resources and minimize the risk of weather-related accidents. We provide a wide range of meteorological services and data.
Discover the benefits of accurate weather forecasting with MetGIS and let’s work together to unlock the potential of accurate weather information to improve the quality and sales of your products.
It all started with university research projects. 10 years later, experts from Europe, South America and Japan had completed the development of the MetGIS algorithm. The combined expertise in meteorology, geographic information systems, software development, and snow research made extremely accurate forecasts possible. The quality of the forecasts was astounding in several verification studies. When the number of customers increased, MetGIS GmbH was established.
MetGIS uses special innovative techniques that combine numerical weather simulation models with extremely high-resolution terrain data. This is reflected in the term MetGIS, which is composed of the syllables “Met” (for meteorology) and “GIS” (for geographic information systems). MetGIS has clear advantages over conventional forecasting systems, especially over mountainous terrain, because the exact altitude and location of forecast points are incorporated into the forecast process.
