MetGIS LONG RANGE FORECAST API

Weather forecasts for the future

The MetGIS Long Range Forecast API provides long-term global trends for weather forecasts for the coming months. Technically, this is based on ensemble modeling. Different forecasts (ensemble members) are used and compared to each other. The more ensemble members predict a particular weather condition, the higher the probability of that condition occurring. This makes it possible for MetGIS to detect trends and provide them to you.

Please note that the MetGIS Long Range Forecast API does not provide exact weather forecasts for any given day. Instead, it provides probabilities that certain weather variables will be above or below average at certain forecast times in the future.

Application examples for the MetGIS long range forecast API

Agriculture

In Digital Farming, weather model data from the Long Range Forecast API is used as input to long-term numerical crop growth models. By using such model couplings, agribusinesses can optimize crop planning and yield.

Energy

Plan your power purchases and sales for the long term and gain an economic advantage. Use weather data from our Long Range Forecast API.

Tourism

As a tour operator, you want to find destinations where there is a high probability that the weather will be suitable for the planned trip or tour. MetGIS supports you with information about long-term weather trends. This puts you ahead of the competition, which only looks at climate tables and forgets that the weather does not follow pure averages.

Logistics and trade

Adjust your supply chains to expected weather conditions. Consider long-term weather trends in production and inventory.

Winter tourism

Use long-range forecasts to better estimate the amount of artificial snow needed for the upcoming winter season.

INTEGRATION IS THAT EASY
