Weather early warnings for your safety
Our weather is characterized by complexity and numerous influencing factors. This means that constant change is actually the norm. It becomes problematic and dangerous when unforeseen extreme events occur. These often lead to serious damage and breakdowns. Regardless of the industry, severe weather can cause serious problems.
Above all, the safety of people has top priority. In addition, it is important to minimize monetary damage and downtime, including crop losses. Due to climate change in particular, extreme weather events are expected to increase in intensity and frequency.
The currently valid weather warnings of all European weather services are processed by MetGIS, continuously updated and compactly summarized in a GeoJSON file for further use. The file provides information on the respective country that issued the warning, the content and area of the warning, warning levels and the validity period of the warning. This allows you to take appropriate measures in good time and be prepared for disruptive weather influences.
You will receive a GeoJSON file for your location with the following information:
Green
No active warning.
Yellow
Caution! Caution is advised in the current weather conditions, but only isolated weather-related hazards and/or damage are to be expected.
Orange
Attention! The current weather scenario can lead to hazards, disruption to everyday life and damage.
Pay close attention to the current weather forecasts.
Red
Danger! It is to be expected that the current weather scenario will lead to far-reaching hazards.
The weather phenomena for which warnings are issued can differ slightly from country to country. For example, warnings are issued for storm surges on the coast, which is not an issue in landlocked countries. The warnings usually only refer to populated areas and not to high mountains. We attach great importance to ensuring that our models and parameters are precise and reliable. Therefore, the global expansion of our weather warnings and alerts is still in the validation phase. You order the weather warnings for your desired regions and receive your API key from us

We update the warning files (country versions and complete file for Europe) on our server every minute. This means that the latest warnings issued are available promptly.

Using your API key, you regularly check whether new warnings are available and download the relevant file(s) for further processing.
