Welcome to MetGIS, the experts for high-quality meteorological services.
As a renowned spin-off of the University of Vienna, we are proud to offer precise and reliable weather forecasts and analyses.
Our powerful, internationally recognized meteorological forecasting system updates highly accurate weather forecasts several times a day in impressive graphical displays, worldwide.

We calculate a wide range of parameters, including standard variables such as temperature, rain, snowfall and wind, as well as industry-specific special parameters such as wet bulb temperature, global radiation and evapotranspiration.
Through the innovative combination of accurate weather models and terrain data, we produce ultra-precise forecasts with an impressive resolution of up to 30 meters.

One of MetGIS’ main goals is to enable its customers to make better decisions based on high-quality weather data.
We help to optimize the use of resources and minimize the risk of weather-related accidents.
We provide a wide range of meteorological services and data for this purpose.

Discover the benefits of accurate weather forecasts with MetGIS and let’s work together to exploit the potential of precise weather information to increase the quality and sales of your products.

BACKGROUND

HOW METGIS WAS CREATED

It all began as part of university research projects. 10 years later, experts from Europe, South America and Japan had finished developing the MetGIS algorithm. The combined specialist knowledge from the fields of meteorology, geographical information systems, software development and snow research made extremely accurate forecasts possible.

The forecast quality was astounding in several verification studies. As more and more customers came knocking, MetGIS GmbH was founded.

PRECISION

WHAT MAKES THE METGIS ALGORITHM SO PRECISE?

MetGIS uses special innovative techniques that combine numerical weather simulation models with extremely high-resolution terrain data. This is also expressed in the term “MetGIS”, which consists of the syllables “Met” (for meteorology) and “GIS” (for geographical information systems). MetGIS has clear advantages over conventional forecasting systems, especially over mountainous terrain, as the exact altitude and location of forecast points are incorporated into the forecasting process.
