Die Karten geben Auskunft dar\u00fcber, ob an bestimmten Orten Schnee liegt oder nicht. Sie geben aber keine Informationen \u00fcber die H\u00f6he der Schneedecke, die lokal sehr stark variieren kann. Die Karten sind beliebig zoombar bis zu Aufl\u00f6sungen von 30 m.<\/p>\n<p>Die Einzigartigkeit der Schneebedeckungskarten von MetGIS liegt neben der extrem hohen Aufl\u00f6sung und der vollen Zoomf\u00e4higkeit darin, dass nicht nur Satellitendaten (Sentinel-2 u.a.) f\u00fcr die Berechnung verwendet werden, sondern auch Neuschneedaten aus dem firmeninternen hochaufgel\u00f6sten Wettermodell. Dadurch k\u00f6nnen die Schneebedeckungskarten h\u00e4ufiger aktualisiert werden. Die verwendeten Satelliten sehen n\u00e4mlich bei Vorhandensein einer Wolkendecke nicht bis zum Boden (und einer eventuell vorhandenen Schneedecke) durch. Bei l\u00e4ngeren Schlechtwetterperioden g\u00e4be es ohne Neuschneeeinbindung keine aktuellen Schneedeckeninfos.<\/p>\n<p>Es ist m\u00f6glich, die Schneebedeckungskarten \u00fcber die MetGIS <a einen bestimmten Zeitraum. Zur Berechnung des Neuschnees verwendet MetGIS einen speziell entwickelten Algorithmus, der neben einer genauen Bestimmung der Schneefallgrenze auch hochaufgel\u00f6ste Gel\u00e4ndedaten in den Prognoseprozess einbezieht.<\/p>\n<p>Der berechnete Wert ist als die Neuschneemenge zu sehen, die w\u00e4hrend des Schneefalls am Boden ankommt. Dass dieser Wert von den Messwerten abweicht, kann eine Reihe von Gr\u00fcnden haben. In das Berechnungsschema gehen beispielsweise nicht die Verfrachtung des Schnees durch den Wind ein, genauso wenig Schmelzprozesse und die Setzung des Neuschnees.
